Interlaken at NIGHT
I had the chance to go to Interlaken with a friend to photograph the Ferris wheel in the evening and at night. And we found another very nice place to take pictures in the night.
Interlaken is probably one of the most famous cities in Switzerland. Although it is only a very small city.
Interlaken is located in the Bernese Oberland between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz (Inter-Laken; between Lakes), on an alluvial plain called "Bödeli". The two lakes are connected by the Aare river, which flows through Interlaken. Interlaken's local mountains are the Harder Kulm (1’322 m) in the north and the Heimwehfluh (660 m) in the south. But Interlaken is best known for the breathtaking mountain panorama of the Swiss Alps
The communities of Interlaken, Unterseen, Matten, Wilderswil and Bönigen together form an agglomeration with about 20'000 inhabitants. So the numbers do not indicate a significant city. However, the location is very predestined for excursions. For this reason, Interlaken is one of the major tourist centers of the Bernese Highlands and has an infrastructure of hotels, youth hostels, campsites and vacation apartments. The most famous hotel is the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa which you can also see on my pictures bellow.
Interlaken offers a wide range of outdoor and leisure activities, including adventure sports such as parachuting, paragliding, canyoning, river rafting, bungee jumping and kayaking. But also less action-packed sports like hiking or biking. In winter, Interlaken is THE hub for skiers. From here, many ski regions can be reached quickly.
